Thank you for making the time to visit our school website. On behalf of the students, staff and School Council, I would like to extend a warm welcome to all children and parents who are beginning an association with Glen Waverley Primary School.
On Friday 6th December, we recognised our youngest members of the school community with their special event, the Prep Prom.
On Thursday 5th December, we celebrated the 2019 Year 6 children and their primary school journey. Our Grade 6 graduation ceremony was a great success and all of our students and families should be very proud.
Our school chess team continues to go from strength to strength this year and recently their hard work, commitment and endeavour came to fruition in the National finals which were held at Melbourne University.
On the 20th November, our Year 5 students participated in a full-day Science Incursion to complement their study of Chemical Sciences in Term 4
On Sunday 17th November, 20 children and their families attended the BMW YourMelbourne Competition. Children got to view the latest BMW technology and shared in future ideas on mobility. Some of our learners were awarded $200 gift vouchers for their ideas and projects pertaining to transport in 2040
On Friday 8th November, our Year 3 children were extremely excited as they attended their first sleepover at school. We provided an experience that was rewarding for all the children, challenging them, and allowing them to experience ‘camp life’ to prepare them for future camps.
On Friday 1st November , the Preps had their first instalment of an incursion led by Vermont South Fire Brigade. The focus of this 2 part incursion is to educate our Prep students on Fire Safety with encouragement for them to pass their learning onto their families.
Halloween is a celebration observed in several countries on 31st October. Some of our students who wished to embrace this event came to school in simple Halloween Costumes. It was exciting to see so many wonderful costumes and hearing stories about their costumes.
In recognition of the importance “light” plays in celebratory events such as birthday's, Diwali, our students celebrated and acknowledged how light is used in celebrations across all cultures. It was an excellent opportunity to tap into one of our greatest intercultural resources, the children!
