What a fabulous day of learning the Year Sixes had at Scienceworks on Wednesday 15th May. They experienced a range of exhibits, including a solar system exploration in the planetarium.
They investigated the presence of water on different plants and examined what we need to survive (and sustain life) on earth. This connected to our inquiry question, "How can we ensure our own sustainability?'. Learners finished off the day with a classic Scienceworks race against Cathy Freeman.
Here are some of their reflections:
I learnt that earth is not the only planet with water - Sachith 6A
I learnt a lot of new things like how Uranus has more water than earth - Anika 6A
I learnt that there are ice giants and the core is made of ice water. Without our atmosphere, we'd be able to see the Milky Way - David 6C
Without the atmosphere, you can see other planets. Most planets have frozen water - Sean 6C
I enjoyed learning how technology has evolved over time and the growth of Artificial Intelligence and, what it can do for our sustainability - Emily 6D
I learnt that water is a rare resource in space and comes in the form of solid, liquid or gas - Thenugi 6D
I learnt about Venus's surface and that it is similiar to our moon's - with lots of craters - Kananv 6E
