BMW YourMelbourne Competition

As a result of one of our parents, Pranjav who works at BMW, the Year 5 and 6 children were provided with an opportunity to partake in a competition which essentially involved answering the question, “How do you think we will travel around the city in 2040?”

In lieu of the above, they have been asked to either:

  • Design a city - depicting what it will look like in 20 years
  • Transport mode or infrastructure – also depicting what it will look like in 20 years
  • Sustainable mobility – future mobility solutions that support the environment or
  • Transport technology – improvements to current transport or a complete new transport mode.

In total approximately 20 children entered the competition and to say the calibre of their submissions blew the organiser’s minds is an understatement as they were thrilled and could not believe that 10, 11 and 12 year olds could derive such comprehensive designs and ideas that demonstrated a high level of creativity, forethought and ingenuity.

The competition culminated with a function on Sunday 17th November at the BMW head office in Mulgrave where the children and their families also had the opportunity to view the latest technology BMW is offering their customers.

Everyone was provided with a scrumptious meal, the children received with a gift bag and seven received a gift voucher for the entries. BMW Australia was also incredibly generous to provide our school with a 3D printer.

Congratulations to everyone who was involved, thank you to the GWPS families who supported the event and BMW Australia for implementing the competition, for hosting the event and their generous gift for our school!
