As a means of further developing the Extra-Curriculum opportunities for our students, we have implemented a Coding program.
Coding has been highlighted as a 21st Century skill with tangible benefits for students, it has been included in the draft of the Victorian Curriculum. While the use of technology is a great way to support our students’ learning, so too is coding which allows them to understand the logic and science that controls this technology.
Kids Unlimited is the company who will run the coding program for our school. The students will participate in a one hour coaching session each Wednesday, during the luncheon recess or after school. Using a design-based learning approach, students explore computing, programming logic and design concepts through hands-on exercises using the proven platform Scratch.
While many jobs of the future are yet to be even imagined the future of work undoubtedly points in the direction of the technology space. This coding course will introduce students to the world of coding in a fun and engaging way. Experienced coaches will guide students through a series of hands-on lessons with real world applications.
