Music Innovation

At Glen Waverley Primary School we are very fortunate to run Music Innovation. This is an additional program that runs alongside classroom music. Each term Music Innovation is offered to a different year level and the class is implemented weekly.

Music Innovation is an opportunity for students to engage in composition, arrangement and ensemble playing at a deeper level then what is offered in the classroom music program. The program is generally offered to students who have a musical background and learn an instrument or undertake singing lessons.

A key component of this program is for the children to celebrate and acknowledge their new learning by showcasing it to audiences such as the school community (assemblies, the Music Innovation group, their class) and also to their family.

For Anzac Day 2021 Ileesha from 4A has learnt the Last Post on violin.

"In military tradition, the Last Post is the bugle call that signifies the end of the day's activities. It is also sounded at military funerals and commemorative services such as Anzac Day and Remembrance Day to indicate a final farewell.”
