Visual Arts

Artist in Schools Program – our children have been working on our new school mural with renowned and award winning artists Yaping Jiang and John McCallum. The mural is beginning to take shape and already looks terrific. It will be wonderful when it is completed as it will be a real feature of our school.

The Arts are unique, expressive, creative and communicative forms that engage students in critical and creative thinking and help them understand themselves and the world. The Arts at Glen Waverley Primary School encompasses Visual Arts and Music/Performing Arts Programs, with Specialist teachers Mr Hudson – Visual Arts and Mrs. Hallas - Music.

We have a Visual Arts facility where children participate in a wide variety of experiences, using a multitude of materials. Each Level will learn about - Painting, Drawing, Printing, Textiles, Modelling, Construction, Collage and Art appreciation. The Visual Arts curriculum focuses on Creating and Making and Exploring and Responding. We take great pride in our Visual Arts program and seek to showcase children’s’ work throughout the school and wider community. We also encourage the children to value their work by hanging it up at home or storing it in a folio.

Each child in the school made a scale for our Dragon and the older children helped construct the dragon with our Art and Language. teachers.
