Meet Kelby The Koala, cheering for GWPS!

Kelby the Koala is currently trying out to be GWPS’s newest mascot. Kelby is originally from Australia, but loves learning about other cultures. Kelby motivates everyone to try their best and reach for the stars as she swings her GWPS flag with pride. When Kelby came to us for the first time we got to learn a lot about Kelby and here are some things that you need to know about this special Koala. 

Kelby the Koala is a ‘Value’ Koala!

Not a single koala can match the happiness of Kelby the Koala. This koala has the happiness meter up the roof. Kelby is all about values, especially when it comes to our school values. Kelby embodies Global Empathy, Respect, Initiative and Integrity. Kelby always proudly waves the Glen Waverley Primary School flag all the time, even at her eucalyptus tree, where she munches on her eucalyptus leaves everyday before coming to school.

Kelby the Koala loves to ‘learn’ new things, no matter how challenging!

Kelby the Koala likes to learn new things everyday! She loves challenges which helps her reflect on her learning.  Finding new discoveries is what she does! This Koala doesn’t really know everything, but either way, Kelby is all about learning, and wants to keep trying and to make new friends! Everyone makes mistakes, even Kelby, and she makes sure to value them and learn from them.

Kelby the Koala loves to ‘dream’ about her opportunities!

Everyone knows that you can’t just get knowledge! So Kelby hopes to dream big and wants to reflect on her past mistakes and learn from them. Kelby likes to take on her opportunities and she knows that it’ll be alright if it doesn’t work out. Kelby likes to encourage people to dream big and she says that good things will come by soon if things don't work out like they wanted to.

Why Kelby the Koala?

What is the meaning behind her jumper? The yellow stars around the GWPS logo represent our school community and the dark blue stars represent the stars on the Australian flag. The stars represent, that from whatever country you are from, we are all still a community and together we happily sing the Australian anthem. The reason why we chose the name Kelby is because we wanted her to be special and unique, just like our school!

We’re so excited to see Kelby cheer for GWPS in front of our eyes! Kelby is a value koala who loves to learn new things, and wants to dream big! She hopes to see everyone and to cheer you on and GWPS! We hope you consider Kelby for our school mascot, and we’re looking forward to hearing back from you!
