We learned the difference between good fires and bad fires, how to stay safe around open flames, and the important steps to take if a fire breaks out at home. The firefighters reminded us that an adult should always be present when using candles, cooking, or near any open flame. We also discovered that every home should have a working smoke detector and a clear evacuation plan.
Knowing our home address and meeting at a safe point—like the mailbox—after escaping a fire is essential. Most importantly, we learned to never go back inside a burning house. The highlight of the visit was seeing a firefighter dress in his full protective gear, including a special mask and oxygen tank. We can’t wait for Week 7 when they’ll return—with their fire truck!
